ABOUT

Hi, my name is Chris and I am a Photographer, Software Developer, Husband, Father-in-training and an experienced cat valet.

This site is a collection of photographs, films, stories and words around my adventures and experiences with photography and film.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy sharing the journey with me.

My Journey

I bought my first camera back in my early twenties, an Olympus Stylus Zoom, which I can’t remember the specific model but which I used to take holiday photos and other snapshots. I didn’t really get more into photography until in my thirties when I bought my first DSLR, a Nikon D40. I then took a GCSE photography course at a local college where I learnt more of the basics of photography and got my first taste of using a darkroom. From there I learnt mainly towards digital photography before coming back round to a mix of film and digital at the start of 2020.

I currently shoot both digital and film, enjoying what I think is the best of both worlds while compromising on the disadvantages of each.

While I’ve learnt a lot this past year about shooting film, developing, scanning and post processing, I’m still really only at the beginning of my journey in photography.

Gear

In my growing collection of cameras I have two digital and, erm, an unspecified number of film cameras, the later in various levels of fully functional to in need of repair.

For digital my current go to for landscape and general photography is the Sony A7RII in combination with the Sigma 16-28, Tamron 28-200 and Sony 85mm. For everyday photography and family events I love my Fuji X100F.

Film camera wise I mostly shoot with a Mamiya 6 and Pentax 67 for medium format and in 35mm I’m shooting a Nikon F2.

For video I use the Sony A6400, typically with the 18-105 (a lens with IBIS), a Tiffen Black Pro-mist 1/4 on and then a variable ND. Out and about on the trail I’m likely also using the DJI Pocket 2.
